The Burlington Institute of Technology in Westampton was placed on lock down following rumors of a gun brought to school.

WESTAMPTON — The Burlington County Institute of Technology was placed on lockdown for about 30 minutes Wednesday morning following a rumor that a gun had been brought to school.

Westampton Police investigated the rumor and determined it was unfounded and that a gun had not in fact been brought into the vocational high school off Woodlane Road, according to Chief Stephen Ent.

“There is no threat or danger to the school,” Ent said Wednesday.

School was back in session by 11 a.m.
